New opening paragraph
Over the years, women have faced many challenges when it comes to the issue of feminism. We struggle when it comes to being treated equally with men; they were and are still always the superior ones. Despite, the reports and claims about the developments made by feminism over past couple of years big Hollywood franchise films still present too many negative stereotypes of women. This is particularly evident in the Fast and Furious franchise films and the James Bond franchise films where the female actresses are objectified; they are presented as meaningless sex objects. The female actors are shown on screen in such a way that is to please the male eye both in the characters and in the male audience. Although, these negative stereotypes do not just exist when it comes to gender equality they also exist in regards to pay gaps, health and wellbeing and sexualisation of women. The way in which women are treated is also evident in historical films such as Dr No (DIR. Terence Young) where the first appearance of a female character was when Ursula Andress emerged from the ocean in a bikini, which emphasised that these women were sex objects (Lacey, 2010). This essay will explore what impact the representation of women in films like Fast and Furious 7 has had and continues to have on the wider society.
