Essay Plan Idea - After tutorial (2nd December)
Question – we may need to look at the wording slightly.
Perhaps try and make it a bit sharper and consider impact on audience (remember
the impact may be on a male audience).
Introduction – lay out argument, primary text and any
secondary/historical texts. Present your angle/hypothesis. 250 words.
Section 1 – F&F7 women being objectified. Textual
analysis. 400 words.
Section 2 – Does objectification of women contribute to
financial success of films? Perhaps use this to bring in secondary/historical
texts. 200 words.
Section 3 – Historical text comparison – Bond against
F&F. Historical textual analysis. 300 words.
Section 4 – Audience research: effects theory. What impact
do these representations have on audiences? Full of quotes/research/examples
etc. Wider context/SHEP. 500 words.
Section 5 – Hollywood stars and their contributions to this
debate (continuing from research above). 250 words.
Section 6 – Feminism. Feminist perspectives. Research. This
may be built into Section 4 – whatever works best for you. 300 words.
Section 7 – How have representations changed over time?
Where might this debate go in future? Is there hope for women going forward?
250 words.
Conclusion – sum up your argument, snappy ending please! 150
words.
Next steps… update/finish your plan based on this tutorial.
You don’t need to stick to the above by any means but hopefully it has at least
clarified your thinking and provided a potential structure that will be easy to
follow.
I need to have a quick read of your opening paragraph when
it’s written but otherwise you are good to go.
This essay has great potential – the key is making sure
there is a strong thread running through it and that you focus heavily on the
academic research/feminism/effects theory side of it.
Publish this tutorial to your blog with your next steps as
usual.
