Critical Investigation tutorial - second draft

  A good second draft – definite improvement but some areas still need a bit of work Written English is much better for two pages but then slips back – look over this carefully.   Introducing quotes is still an area to look at; same for topic sentences. You definitely need to cut the essay down a little – too long. Lacking media/feminist theory. I said this in your original feedback: Butler, McRobbie, van Zoonen, Dyer (power and stereotypes), Gerbner’s cultivation theory (media effects), the Jean Killbourne video this week. Where are they in the essay? 1st Linked Production Tutorial

     Your chosen brief is achievable and fits your critical investigation very well. The style of media text you are aiming for has distinct conventions which you should be able to recreate. However, television has incredibly high production values which creates a real challenge: the standard demanded for the A2 production is extremely high and you need to ensure the camerawork, soun d, script and pre sentation approach professional standards. Your blog contains some excellent planning – you’ve clearly researched similar reports and these look absolutely right for what you are trying to create.
